To keep your Olympic Float in tip-top condition, please take time to read and follow these instructions relating to axle and brake maintenance on your float. This routine maintenance will keep your float in peak condition and is not part of normal warranty servicing.
Axles 5km Check wheel nut tension and re-tension if necessary
20km Carefully touch test the hub brake hub drum temperatures, just behind the grease cap. Are the temperatures the same on both sides, they could be warm – but not really hot? If they are hot, check and readjust the bearings or brakes.
Re-grease if necessary Check the rotation of wheels for free movement to ensure brakes are not binding and check wheel nuts. Adjust if necessary.
Brakes
To maintain safe and reliable stopping power of the brake system, it’s important that your brakes are serviced at regular intervals.
Hydraulic brakes
Electric brakes
Brake Hub drum
When changing wheels and tyres, ALWAYS make sure the wheel nuts are tensioned correctly and check these regularly. The frequency of regular checks and maintenance should increase if you’re using your float daily, commercially or travelling long distances.
